You might remember how the Pokemon games use a level up system, specific statistics, team building, and everything else that makes an RPG video game.
That is not how things are run in Cotrin. In Cotrin, there is no level ups, no specific stats or exact endurance levels. Here is a list of the basic things you need to know about Cotrin:
Strength: Strength is no real number. But it is gauged by an estimated number. There is no cap for the number, and it may go as high as necessary. This is mainly used so that fights are easier to judge. But a battle is still unpredictable. A higher strength does NOT mean you will win.
Moves: Your Pokemon does not start out knowing every move that he/she normally would. However, there is no four-move limitation or Power Points. You will be able to start with your weaker moves. For example, a Charmander will start off knowing Scratch, Growl, Ember, Dragon Rage, etc. However, as the adventure continues, you will learn moves such as Slash, Scary Face, Smokescreen, Flamethrower, etc. For a list of available moves, ask anytime with a PM to your mod. I trust the mods to make the decisions.
Abilities: This will go the same way as it does in the Pokemon games. However, with abilities that work involve lowered HP, they start working when your character is badly hurt.
Fighting: In a fight, things won't be anything like the games. Battles will not take place in turn-based environments. There is no set damage your character or your opponent can take, but if you're not realistic about it, you'll get talked to about it. If the opponent has a higher Strength value than you, you will definitely take more damage from his/her attacks. The opposite is also true (see Strength above).
Evolution: This is for your mod to decide. You can evolve, and your mod will be in charge of determining when your character can evolve. However, when your mod says you can evolve, you will not be forced to evolve. In fact, if you wish, you can remain in your first form. But then, you can decide to evolve after any fight after that.

- Win: When you manage to defeat an opponent, you will gain some Strength, and possibly money and items. Not to mention bragging rights.
- Loss: When you are defeated by an opponent, you will lose some of your strength, and possibly some of your money. Depending on the situation, you could lose a key item on your journey. In order to get it back, you may have to fight the opponent again and win it back. You will be sent back to the previous town. If you lose before reaching the first town, you will return back to your starting point.
- Draw: In the rare occasion that is a draw (when both opponents are defeated), nothing will be lost or gained, and you will go back to the previous town and awaken there. If you haven't reached the first town, you will return to your stopping point.
